You made it a crime to even say
two words of a name, condemned
those same two words to silence,
along with all who say them;
how much of what we speak
will be excised before
you have silenced everyone?
…scorched earth
is not a proscribed phrase
nor tortured rubble
nor broken bone
nor thirst and hunger
nor the genocide itself
nor the Holocaust
its name now used to hide a lie…
Now you have declared mere words
against the law, to speak them,
write them, to display or publicise,
you make the Law an ass,
and Justice is in chains.
