A Japanese poet in Cork
when writing verse in the dark,
said, ”What did I do?
It’s not a haiku:
the syllable count doesn’t work.’

An exercise. Local writers' group. This, with very little refinement, seemed apposite. Of course, it's not a haiku, it's a limerick.
As a counterpoint to this limerick about a haiku that doesn't work, I've added a haiku that rhymes and is about a limerick [here].
