Blown


















Unsteady
in a deserted town;
no streets are safe
from the severing blast.

Katabatic wind slides down,
writhes in the city’s grids;
the jet stream carves it
like a knife.

I was disposed to explore the mythology of wind. Directions, meaning, legend. As always, along comes Zephyrus, Boreas plus Notus and Eurus - the classical usual suspects.

But there are more winds than the Greek ones and I borrowed some notions from the American First Nations. Hopefully without doing anything cod or pastiche.
