year

the cycles of the sun
unwind in the star-littered night

the world stumbles

gravities condense
matter out of nothing

colliding galaxies shudder

electrons inside the atom
spin yesterday into tomorrow

uncertainty dances
in the ever-present now

past and future aggregate
each shapeless moment

segmented energies mutate

nanosecond by nanosecond
substance invades absence

emptiness reinvents itself

all circling opposites converge
in the space between them

time does not stand still
but fades away instant by instant

for us another year is dust
and we must remember it
by its number

This one crept up on me toward New Year 2023. Lots of tinkering, as ever. Trying to equate the cosmic dance with the insignificant human one.
