crystal flakes
clumped and heavy
barely touched by air
fall and turn
in the wake
of their own turbulence
an unbroken line
perpendicular
to heaven and earth
its snow stranded
till thaw drains
the fallen sky
deeper into stone
scattered drift
by scattered drift
then longer days
will slide across
the speckled hills
with spring
and resurrection
rising in the rivers
