Fading and falling

Out at the edge of shadow,
the universe’s shaped charge
unwinds.

Entropic moments
stutter to an end.

Energies fall
on substance and surface,
eclipse their own nightfall
with photons of change.

Snowing darkness
drifts, drifting.

Creation repeats,
and, repeating, cycles,
in every direction, spiraling;

decay in fragments, aggregates,
what was built, demolishes,
ruin rebuilds, iteration reiterates,
the processions of progress,
increase and reduce.

Eternity ebbs
to darkness and return.

Energy
indivisible and irreducible,
cleaves and separates,
approaches nothing, recombines;
death, birth, resurrection, ash.

What withers regenerates;
what was dark reignites.

Black embers flame.

Yesterday’s light shines again.

Today’s dawn rises toward
tomorrow’s fading.

A bit of metaphysics. All the opposites in endless contradiction. Helical, juxtapositioned. You name it, there’s movement - toward - away - just movement.

All this must pass…
