fabrication

words run
into storylines
facts are
dead or spun
dying in yarns
and sales-talk
no empiricism
but empires
of interpretation
when poets write
fact may turn
to fiction
and truth turn
stranger yet
when poetry
sets fire
to paradox
on the pyre of
its contradictions
As Poetry24, the News-Poetry website shut up shop on Facebook (it’s still there but as a new group), I shared this in valediction. The website is still online, too, mothballed but still accessible at http://www.poetry24.co.uk/ with my contributions here.
The news has a lot to answer for. The muse can only muse and look for truth beneath the headlines.
