wisdom singing

morning
birds scream joy
at daybreak

nested
cracked-egg
fledglings cry for

hunger
the green world
and a sky’s colour

beneath
leaf and stem
under the trees

humans
journey on
in weariness

hello
she said
as birdsong sang

you
have nothing
to tell me he said

a man
locked into
his bad place

worlds
of difference
only chatter to him

made
themselves heard
above his head

today
the voices said
you are not alone

birds
with their small
wisdom singing

Something else about birdsong. It came from hearing about some poor locked-down individual dismissing a greeting from someone else, full of the joys of nature, passing (socially distanced) on a self-isolated stroll.
